About The Position

The Milling & Packaging Operator is responsible for filling product containers and performing final inspection prior to shipping. This is a seven-day-a-week, 24-hour function, with scheduled 8-hour shifts and occasional overtime extended to 12-hour shifts. The position requires a high level of self-management, punctuality, good attendance, and the ability to adapt to various assignments throughout the shift. The employee must be able to perform job duties with minimal direct supervision and follow an established performance protocol to meet customary work goals. This role involves operating high-speed blenders, cleaning blenders, and performing bake-outs, adhering strictly to safety procedures. The employee must also follow state and federal guidelines concerning safety and environmental protection, and properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) conforming to Level C (general) and Level A (packaging room) standards. Additional PPE may be required based on GMP Policy. The employee must be capable of operating forklifts, carts, and specific packaging machinery, with the ability to grasp, push, and pull up to 75 pounds, and lift 55 lbs. Tilting and rolling 220-pound drums on and off pallets is also a requirement. Visual acuity requirements include normal depth perception and 20/30 vision with or without correction.

  • Mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) include a minimum of a hard hat, safety glasses or goggles, hearing protection devices, steeled-toed footwear, gloves (hand protection), long pants and long-sleeve shirt.
  • Additional PPE may include respirators, smocks, coveralls, hair/beard nets, and/or masks as required by the GMP Policy.
  • Must be capable of operating forklifts, carts, and specific packaging machinery.
  • Must be able to perform grasping, pushing and pulling up to a maximum of 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to lift 55 lbs.
  • Must be able to tilt and roll 220-pound drums on and off pallets.

  • Knowledge of SAP and EBS data-based record keeping systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manually fills containers with product and stages product on pallets for shipping.
  • Operates product screen and magnet units to protect product from adulteration or foreign matter.
  • Completes pass down sheets to provide production/packaging information for the next shift.
  • Maintains accurate records via manual batch sheets and SAP and EBS data-based record keeping systems.
  • Monitors inventory and records information concerning product quality.
  • Troubleshoots mechanical problems using basic tools for repairs such as rotary valves or ball valves and/or communicating repair needs.
  • Demonstrates effective teamwork behavior and promotes process efficiency.
  • Effectively communicates safety and procedural issues with coworkers and supervisor.
  • Performs all duties under conditions that require adherence to safety standards.
  • Maintains knowledge of all environmental requirements and environmental permits for the work area.
  • Performs regular housekeeping of the work area consistent with cGMP Policy.
  • Operates high speed blenders and follows proper safety procedures when cleaning blenders and on bake-outs.
  • Follows state and federal guidelines concerning safety and environmental protection.
  • Properly uses PPE conforming to Level C (general) & Level A (packaging room) standards.
  • Operates forklifts, carts, and specific packaging machinery.
  • Performs manual transfer of product, grasping, pushing and pulling up to a maximum of 75 pounds.
  • Lifts 55 lbs.
  • Tilts and rolls 220-pound drums on and off pallets.
