About The Position

The Mill Operator is responsible for ensuring the consistent quality of rubber batches and maintaining a steady flow of material through the milling and calendering processes. This role involves monitoring and adjusting equipment, managing material flow, and adhering to safety protocols. The operator also plays a role in quality control by identifying and addressing nonconformities.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of the safety devices on the mills and calender

Responsibilities

  • Checks consistency of dropped batches and alerts supervisor of any poorly mixed batches
  • Maintains a steady stream of rubber from the dump mill to the calender box
  • Adjusts water valves and nip gap on dump and strip mills to ensure proper rubber adhesion to front bowl
  • Keeps conveyor belts and belt rollers clear of any excess rubber
  • Retrieves tails from Line 2 calender and places them back onto strip mill
  • Has a working knowledge of the safety devices on the mills and calender
  • Assists the calender operator when needed
  • Keeps work area clean and free of safety hazards
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities related to product, process and the system
  • Control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected
