As part of the Mill Processing Plant Team, the Grinding Area Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining equipment used for grinding mineral ores to a desired size for further processing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Understanding of grinding equipment, principles, and mineral processing techniques.
  • Able to interpret technical documents, process data, and quality standards.
  • Knowledge of mining safety protocols and regulations.
  • Physically fit for tasks involving lifting, standing, and exposure to weather.
  • Detail-oriented with strong monitoring and adjustment skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting equipment issues.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and monitoring systems.

Nice To Haves

  • technical training in mineral processing is an asset
  • 2+ years experience in grinding or similar mining/processing roles preferred

Responsibilities

  • Operate SAG and ball mills, including hydrocyclones and vibrating screens, to achieve target particle size.
  • Monitor and adjust feed rates and settings to optimize grinding efficiency and quality.
  • Support Met Lab with sampling and quality checks.
  • Perform routine maintenance: lubrication, cleaning, and part replacements.
  • Report equipment issues to Supervisor or Control Room for prompt repair.
  • Follow all safety procedures and use required PPE.
  • Apply dust control and environmental best practices.
  • Communicate with team members to coordinate operations.
  • Maintain accurate logs of process data and maintenance tasks.
  • Know emergency shutdown procedures and act quickly in emergencies.
  • Take part in ongoing training on equipment, safety, and best practices.
