About The Position

Eldorado Gold Saskatchewan | Foran is seeking a Flotation Area Operator to join their growing McIlvenna Bay team. This is a full-time position based at the McIlvenna Bay site working a 14/14 rotation. Eldorado Gold Saskatchewan | Foran is advancing the McIlvenna Bay project, a cornerstone asset and one of the most significant copper development projects in Canada. As part of the Mill Processing Plant Team, the Flotation Area Operators will be responsible for operating, monitoring and regulating various processes and equipment within the mill facility. Using a computer-based Human-Machine Interface (HMI), Flotation Area Operators involve overseeing the safe and efficient operation of pieces of equipment and making adjustments to operating parameters to optimize the metallurgy of the mill.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience as a flotation operator or in a similar role, ideally in mining or heavy industry.
  • Familiar with DCS, HMIs, SCADA, and other process control systems.
  • Strong analytical skills to track trends and detect deviations.
  • Proven problem-solving ability to respond to alarms and troubleshoot issues.
  • Knowledge of safety standards, environmental rules, and emergency procedures.
  • Clear communication skills for coordination across teams.
  • Willing to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Detail-oriented with strong multitasking skills.
  • Comfortable using computers and relevant software.
  • Committed to following strict safety and operational procedures.
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor flotation cells, pumps, pump boxes, and reagent pumps.
  • Monitor, record and adjust, when necessary, flotation parameters such as flow rates, reagent addition, air addition, pH, slurry densities and froth depth/pulp levels.
  • Work with engineers and supervisors to optimize flotation performance.
  • Coordinate with the Control Room for safe start-up and shutdown procedures.
  • Complete parameter monitoring sheets consistently and accurately.
  • Support Met Lab by assisting with sampling activities.
  • Respond to alarms, deviations, and abnormal conditions quickly and effectively.
  • Troubleshoot process issues and work with maintenance on equipment problems.
  • Monitor quality data and online analyzers; adjust to meet targets.
  • Follow all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and procedures.
  • Initiate emergency procedures when needed and support emergency response.
  • Operate using HMIs, control systems, and DCS interfaces.
  • Communicate with operators, maintenance, supervisors, and engineers.
  • Provide clear shift handovers and updates on operations and equipment status.
  • Keep accurate records in logbooks and digital systems.
  • Perform pre-op checks, inspections, and follow lockout/tagout rules.
  • Join daily toolbox meetings and contribute to a strong safety culture.
