About The Position

PTC is a leading manufacturer and marketer of welded and cold-drawn mechanical steel tubing and tubular shapes, plated bar and tubing, and fabricated parts and precision components. This role is responsible for staging coils in sequence to be slit, loading coils onto the un-coiler, feeding strip to the arbor, controlling strip edges during the slitting process, and recording the master coil being slit.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent
  • 2+ years in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be computer literate and able to work with programs such as Word, Excel, etc., and be able to learn and use HP programs such as e-mail, ERP system, etc.
  • Must strip width of various sizes.
  • Operate Forklift & Overhead Crane.
  • Forklift certified, crane certified

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for keeping Mill supplied with slit coils.
  • Record strip gauge.
  • Operate coil car and turn coil to lean on un-coiler.
  • Check all coils for proper specifications (heat, grade, gauge, width, supplier).
  • Fill out coil production report.
  • Notify production supervisor of any problems with equipment or production.
  • Assist in roll changes and breakdowns.
  • Identify any quality problems in material.
  • Keep work area and equipment clean and orderly.
  • Maintain safe work procedures.
  • The incumbent is expected to understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers.
  • Duties and responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed.
