About The Position

Steel of West Virginia, a subsidiary of Steel Dynamics, Inc. (SDI), is seeking a Mill Day Supervisor to oversee operations and projects for the #2 Mill Area. SDI is a leading carbon steel producer and recycler, recognized for its industry leadership and corporate governance. The Mill Day Supervisor will be responsible for the safety of personnel, quality of product, production rates, and enforcement of company policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Strong organization and planning skills
• Ability and desire to improve efficiency and increase capacity.
• Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor.
• Self-motivated with positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and proven leadership skills.
• Strong computer skills

Nice To Haves

• 3+ years of production supervisory experience desired.
• 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment desired.

Responsibilities

• Implement the production plan to assure on time delivery and highest quality standards.
• Manage reliable and predictable operations.
• Reduce process variability and improve consistency throughout the department.
• Motivate the crew to effectively accomplish the tasks at hand while monitoring employee performance and task efficiency.
• Identify and implement improvements to the manufacturing process.
• Ensure SDI/OSHA safety requirements are met and exceeded.
• Assure the schedule is designed to gain maximum utilization of manpower, equipment, and material on all shifts.
• Effectively practice Performance Based Management by coaching and developing employees.
• Ability to lead staff to meet production demands.
