About The Position

Amarr, part of ASSA ABLOY, is hiring a Milk Run Driver for its Lawrence, Kansas location. The driver performs product handling tasks, delivers products to customers safely and on time, and completes work according to product specifications and company policies and procedures. This is a touch-freight position requiring unloading assistance at delivery points and availability for at least two overnight trips per week. The driver may also operate a vehicle to transport materials to Kansas manufacturing facilities and assist with production orders.

The role includes driving for extended periods, loading and unloading merchandise, warehousing and handling products, assisting customers, maintaining safety and security, and completing required records and expense reports. The position requires frequent standing and walking, bending, and lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling materials. Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL and at least 21 years of age to meet the minimum DOT age requirement.
• Three to five or more years of driving experience.
• Clear, effective written and spoken English sufficient for public communication, understanding traffic signs and signals, responding to official inquiries, and completing reports and records.
• Driving record must meet the stated criteria: no more than two moving-violation or proof-of-insurance tickets in the past 12 months; no more than four such tickets in the past three years; no DWI or DUI in the past five years; no specified fleeing/eluding, unauthorized vehicle use, or expired/invalid-license tickets in the past three years; no careless or reckless driving accident in the past five years; and no severe accidents as described in the posting.
• No driver's license suspension or conviction for driving with a suspended or revoked license in the past three years, regardless of the reason; no more than two such convictions ever.
• Ability to operate power tools.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Available for at least two overnight trips per week.
• Able to lift 45 pounds unassisted, with or without reasonable accommodation; lifting over 45 pounds and/or items over 12 feet requires at least two people.
• Able to frequently or continuously lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 45 to 80 pounds, with teamwork required for weights over 45 pounds or lengths over 12 feet.
• Able to push carts and occasionally pull to steer them; moving a loaded cart requires 45 pounds of force, and pushing forces above 45 pounds require two people.
• Manual dexterity and precision to grip small objects and maneuver hands and wrists.

Responsibilities

• Drive safely for extended periods while complying with DOT regulations and safety procedures.
• Load, unload, prepare, inspect, and operate a delivery vehicle; provide unloading assistance at delivery points.
• Perform warehousing and merchandise-handling tasks throughout the operation.
• Complete required staging and assembly tasks and provide customer assistance.
• Deliver products safely and on time.
• Accurately load customer orders and inspect materials for damage; respond to customer requests and product needs during loading.
• Maintain building and product security, including inventory and damage control.
• Maintain required federal and state logs.
• Manage cash and company credit cards and submit expense reports on time.
• Serve as a backup driver transporting materials to Kansas manufacturing facilities.
• Assist with production orders and accurately unload and receive incoming products.
• Perform other reasonably assigned duties.
