About The Position

The Milk Receiver is primarily responsible for safely operating the Milk Lab/Milk Unloading Bays and related equipment. This role involves receiving and loading out all fluid dairy products, ensuring accurate weights, tests, and sample collection from every tanker. The position also handles all cleanup, master sanitation, raw CIP (Clean-In-Place), inspections, and the movement of dairy products. The Milk Receiver must be able to learn and operate computer-related controls for metering systems, work efficiently and safely, and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, management, customers, and vendors. A strong ability to apply common sense, follow instructions, troubleshoot equipment, and perform basic math is essential. This role requires a high school diploma or GED and 1-3 months of related experience. English proficiency is required, along with excellent diction and a well-modulated tone. Specific certifications, including a State of California Limited Sampler’s and Weigher’s license, a forklift operator license, and a state of California Charm Test certification, are necessary or must be acquired. A state-issued Driver’s License is also required. The job involves wearing personal protective equipment and employing proper lifting techniques. The work environment includes potential exposure to various chemicals, fumes, hazardous gases, and extreme temperatures, with noisy conditions and slippery floors. Physical demands include prolonged standing, repetitive lifting and carrying of up to 58 pounds, frequent pushing and pulling, frequent bending and stooping, occasional squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and balancing, and frequent reaching, grasping, and manipulating.

  • Must possess or be able to acquire and maintain a State of California Limited Sampler’s and Weigher’s license.
  • Must possess or be able to acquire and maintain a forklift operator license.
  • Must possess or be able to acquire and maintain a state of California Charm Test certification.
  • Must possess or be able to acquire a state issued Driver’s License.
  • Personal protective equipment including, but not limited to hearing protection, bump caps, hair and beard nets, gloves, and safety glasses must be used in the performance of duties.
  • Proper lifting techniques must be employed at all times.
  • General knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Must be able to stand on feet for at least a two-hour consecutive time period and up to 8-12 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Safely run the Milk Lab/Milk Unloading Bays and related equipment.
  • Receive all fluid dairy products.
  • Load out all fluid dairy products.
  • Ensure proper weights, tests, and samples are taken from every tanker shipped or received.
  • Perform all clean up, master sanitation, raw CIP, inspections, and movement of dairy products.
  • Test all products prior to receiving and shipping.
  • Perform CIP on UT's, RT's, receiving lines, and raw tankers.
  • Responsible for CCP and “Corrective actions” in raw receiving.
  • Responsible for CCP # 101 Bio-Security.
  • Responsible for CCP # 102 Drug Residue Testing.
  • Run all necessary controls and calibrations for the Charm SL and Charm II.
  • Pull all required samples.
  • Run the Charm SL and Charm II on every load and tanker.
  • List the results on the receiving log and assure all listings are correct.
  • Connect, disconnect, and CIP all trucks.
  • Connect to raw silos as needed.
  • Connect the receiving hose, open and install the Runo vents on the tanker lid, open the outlet valve and pump milk upon completion of the antibiotic test.
  • Connect and transfer product internally within the plant (e.g., pump buttermilk, cream).
  • Inspect inside of tankers (after wash) for deficiencies and cleanliness.
  • Disconnect the transfer hose after pumping milk.
  • Perform solution strength tests on the CIP systems.
  • Maintain the CIP room and raw silo room as neat, clean, and orderly.
  • Assist in receiving of all incoming loads, such as cream, condense, etc.
  • Perform all master sanitation items, including cleanup of the receiving office, receiving bays, and other assigned items.
  • Inspect tanks, tankers, and equipment as assigned.
  • Efficiently and effectively transfer standardized milk to evaporator process.
  • Operate, monitor, and manage R.O.’s and separators including CIP, and associated equipment.
  • Measure, test, evaluate & screen standardized milk and milk ingredients.
  • Continuously learn more about milk, milk processing equipment and how to expedite milk throughout the standardization process.
  • Notify/communicate to management/maintenance any problems with equipment or processes that could affect product integrity or quality, or that could impose a possible safety hazard.
  • Manage inventories of milk and milk ingredients to maintain flow of product through facility.
  • Plan future milk shipments based on weekly production schedule.
  • Fill out all bills of ladings correctly and accurately.
  • Maintain production equipment, valves, pumps, and connections.
  • Maintain work environment cleanliness.
  • Ensure proper product handling to minimize product loss.
  • Understand and conduct CIP’s and other cleaning steps according to plant procedures.
  • Act quickly to reduce or eliminate product loss.
  • Train new hires and employees as needed.
  • Assist with break and lunch relief as needed.
  • Ensure all work is done in a timely fashion and done properly.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance at work.
  • Complete all paperwork neatly and correctly.
  • Keep all floors, walls, machines, and pipes clean.
  • Support and enforce SQF / QA, GMP, Safety policies and procedures, and production needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
