About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Military Veteran Peer Network (MVPN) Peer Service Coordinator to join our team. The MVPN Peer Service Coordinator (PSC) creates a peer-to-peer network for any service member, veteran, or family member. The PSC connects veterans and their families with local, state, and national resources, facilitates peer support groups, and fosters a strong sense of camaraderie and trust within the Concho Valley.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be an honorably discharged or retired Military Veteran with combat experience
  • Willingness to use personal experiences to guide and assist other veterans in their recovery and reintegration journey
  • Demonstrated public speaking and presentations
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, other veteran organizations, communities served, courtesy and good judgement
  • Coordinate special projects related to Veterans
  • Must have valid Texas Driver License and a good driving record
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain certification - MVPN Basic Training Certification
  • Must be able to complete all MHMR Concho Valley training

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, health and human services or related field from a college or university is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate peer-to-peer interactions, provide emotional support, and share personal military experiences to build rapport.
  • Training in suicide prevention and military cultural competency, coordination of mental health first aid-veterans.
  • Assist veterans in navigating VA benefits, mental health resources, and housing or employment services.
  • Represent the program at community events, health fairs, and with local stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate, real-time records of veteran interactions and service referrals using TVC reporting tools.
