About The Position

This role involves preparing design and procurement documents for the Sentinel Project. The position holds technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, and coordinating the design related to chilled water systems and unique requirement-driven equipment. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in piping system and equipment design, with the ability to develop design and procurement documents, including Specifications, Material Requisitions, Piping and Instrumentation diagrams, and equipment data sheets. Strong organizational and teamwork skills, along with proven problem-solving capabilities, are essential. The role requires interfacing and coordinating with other engineering disciplines and the client in the development of the design.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Mechanical (or related) Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional work experience.
  • Must have completed a minimum of 4 years of active-duty military service in the United States Armed Forces, with an honorable discharge.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
  • U.S. Professional Engineering License in Mechanical Engineering (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
  • Experience in Piping and Instrument Diagram (P&ID) development, chilled water system design, pipe sizing calculations, and equipment specification and procurement development for waste processing, nuclear, refinery, power, or chemical process facilities.
  • Experience with developing custom equipment packages, including skid mounted systems and specialty items, such as security doors.
  • Experience working on DOD government projects and with the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs).
  • Experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME NQA-1, or AS9100D.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Possess active security clearance or the ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard material engineering methods, techniques, standards, specifications, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
  • Participates in the design, development and modification of processes and methods for the manufacture, molding, and utilization of metallic, plastic, composite and other materials in construction and production of hardware, electronic components and structures.
  • Analyzes materials and material components to establish mechanical and physical properties.
  • Reviews operating data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results.
  • Prepares material selection diagrams and/or materials corrosion engineering reports for clients as required.
  • Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.
  • Coordinates material engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, clients, vendors, contractors, construction, and other functional groups.
  • Provides technical assistance to other material specialists, interacts with project disciplines, customers, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex issues.
  • Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project material requirements, and addresses materials issues as they arise during project execution.
  • Reviews and checks work of other MET specialists as assigned.
