About The Position

The Military and Family Support Lead plays a vital role in supporting military-connected families and building partnerships between schools, families, communities, and businesses to support overall student success. Additionally, this position supports the special programs in the Student Educational Access Department, including but not limited to program marketing, content development, and communications. This position requires a compassionate and empathetic individual who understands and has worked closely with the military community and can effectively communicate with families from diverse backgrounds. This position is considered temporary due to being funded, in full or in part, through grant allocations or student enrollment-based funding sources. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of future funding.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of specific job-related experience
  • Military experience or an expanded familiarity with the military
  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment; prepare and maintain accurate records; utilize pertinent software applications; and utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Must be able to adapt to changing work priorities; communicate with diverse groups; maintain confidentiality; and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness of issues impacting diverse populations.
  • Attendance is an Essential Function of this Position
  • Physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position. The role requires in-person collaboration, direct interaction with team members, other staff, students, and/or guardians, and access to on-site equipment and resources.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the WSD Military Support Team
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with families throughout the district
  • Helping to coordinate and attend activities that celebrate military-connected students in our district.
  • Coordinating with HAFB School Liaison Officers, as requested
  • Coordinating with the WSD Student Access Facilitator to complete the Federal Impact Aid process
  • Maintaining accurate records of interactions with families and the services provided.
  • Participating in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in family support services.
  • Serve as Content Creator and Communications Department Lead
  • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
