About The Position
This role is responsible for performing a variety of welding functions using various types of welding equipment. The individual must maintain quality standards and adhere to the JobBoss process, reporting accurate quantities. The position requires the ability to manually guide an electrode or gun along a weld line, maintaining arc length and speed to achieve specified fusion depth and bead size, as judged by metal color, weld sound, and puddle size.
Requirements
- Ability to perform simple shop math and convert decimals to fractional equivalents.
- Ability to read a calibrated tape measure.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Ability to read and interpret documents finished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and quality and procedure manuals.
- 6 months required in welding.
Nice To Haves
- 3 year(s) preferred in welding, reading blueprints, and checking weld quality.
Responsibilities
- Manually guide electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld and size of molten puddle.
- Assist other departments as required/directed.
- May act as line leader, setting up lines, and checking weld quality of co-workers as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
