About The Position

We are currently hiring for MIG Welder/Fabricator positions. This is a full-time role responsible for building barges and barge accessories according to blueprint specifications. The position involves laying out, positioning, aligning, and fitting fabricated parts, setting up and adjusting welding machines, and performing various welding processes. The role also includes inspecting materials, working effectively in team and independent environments, and adhering to all safety regulations.

Requirements

3 years of production welding and fitting experience preferred
Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and AWS standard welding symbols
Experienced in GMAW, FCAW, and MCAW.

Nice To Haves

Higher vocational training preferred
Previous experience training others is preferred.
Knowledge of GTAW is preferred.

Responsibilities

Layout, position, align and fit together fabricated parts of structural metal products in shop according to blueprint and layout specifications, in preparation for welding.
Setup and adjust welding machines in order to weld components and assemblies using GMAW, FCAW, and MCAW.
Plan sequence of operation, applying knowledge of geometry, effects of heat, and allowance for weld shrinkage, machining, and thickness of metal.
Move parts into position manually or utilizing overhead cranes and forklifts.
Remove high spots, slag and cuts bevels, using hand files, portable grinders, chipping hammers and cutting & plasma torch.
Inspect materials, components, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
Work effectively and efficiently in both team-based and independent working environments.
Responsible for observing and complying with all safety rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
