About The Position

Coach the seventh-grade wrestling team. This is a temporary, part-time position. The contract runs concurrent with the school year, with the wrestling season approximately from November through February. The coach will be responsible for organizing and coaching all practice sessions and scheduled matches, supervising students, and assisting high school coaches with the development of the entire 7-12 program. Duties also include equipment distribution, collection, and inventory, assisting with record keeping and awards, effective communication with students, staff, parents, and community members, serving as a role model for student athletes, enforcing academic eligibility requirements, observing safety and health regulations, following athletic director and student handbook rules, and maintaining locker room facilities. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Pupil Activity Supervisor Validation.
CPR certification with mandatory annual review.
Ability to teach and evaluate the skills of the sport.
Wrestling experience and/or knowledge of wrestling.
Ability to effectively supervise middle school athletes and work with them in a positive manner.
Ability to work cooperatively with adults.
Ability to meet the practice and contest time requirements specified by the Athletic Director or Principal.

Nice To Haves

Ohio teaching certificate/license preferred.

Responsibilities

Organize and coach all practice sessions.

Supervise students continuously while on duty, and require students to behave appropriately.
Assist the High School coaches with the development of the entire 7-12 program.
Distribute, collect and inventory the equipment.
Assist with record keeping and the presentation of awards to the athletes.
Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with students, staff, parents and community members.
Serve as a role model for student athletes in the promotion and practice of sportsmanship, ethical principles and responsible behavior.
Enforce the academic eligibility requirements of the Ohio High School Athletic Association, the Marysville Schools and the Marysville Middle School.
Observe all safety and health regulations of the school district.
Follow the Athletic Director’s rules and the applicable rules in the middle school student handbook.
Maintain the locker room facilities.
