About The Position

Oregon Family School (OFS) is a tuition-free focus virtual public charter school founded in 2018. OFS partners with parents to deliver an individualized, home-based education that fosters academic success and personal growth through robust partnerships among students, families, and advisors. Key features of the OFS Model include Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), Community Days for on-site learning with social and project-based experiences, Blended Instruction with live and virtual class options, Support Services for various student needs, and strong Parental Engagement where parents play an active role at home, guided by licensed teachers/advisors. This position involves leading community day classrooms with engaging, developmentally appropriate project-based instruction across multiple subject areas, designing lessons in social studies, science, early literacy, and community day skills, engaging in targeted professional development, collaborating with parents and advisors, working with support staff, using data to assess student learning, and building community.

Requirements

  • Valid Oregon teaching license preferred (OFS can support a charter registry license for exceptional candidates).
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 6-8 experience (1+ years recommended).
  • Commitment to inclusive, parent-involved education.
  • Knowledge of the science of reading and relevant pedagogy.
  • Skilled in differentiated instruction, data use, classroom management.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead community day classrooms with engaging, developmentally appropriate project-based instruction across multiple subject areas.
  • Work with grade level-teams to design engaging lessons in social studies, science, early literacy, and community day skills to help children develop a love for learning and skills necessary for a well-rounded education.
  • Engage in targeted professional development to improve skills.
  • Collaborate with parents and advisors to guide student growth.
  • Collaborate with support staff—literacy, RAFT, and special education teams.
  • Use data to assess student learning and leverage it for growth.
  • Build community with staff, families, and students.
