Immediate Middle School Teacher
About The Position
KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks middle school teachers for our fifth through eighth grade classrooms for the 2026-27 school year. Teachers are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their Principal. In the KIPP Jacksonville model, there are four "home room" teachers on each grade level who are each responsible for teaching a core subject (English Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, and Science). Class size is typically about 26 students per class. Fifth grade is considered part of the middle school model.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification in Elementary Education K-6 (for 5th or 6th grade ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies), English 5-9, Math 5-9, Social Science 5-9, Science 5-9 (for grades 5, 6, 7, or 8), or English 6-12, Math 6-12, Social Science 6-12, Science 6-12 (for grades 6, 7, or 8)
- At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom

- Passing a background check, as required by law, through the Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse
Nice To Haves
- Florida Reading Endorsement (or reading competency coursework in progress) if teaching English Language Arts
- ESOL Endorsement (or competency coursework in progress)
- Two or more years of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom in a relevant grade level
