About The Position

This position is for a Middle School Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The role involves providing classroom support, developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and collaborating with various stakeholders.

Requirements

Valid Michigan Teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement.

Developing re-evaluation plans, coordinating testing with school psychologists and other ancillary staff, collecting teacher input, and developing and scheduling re-evaluation IEPs.
Assisting administration with development of initial evaluation process for students being referred for special education services.
Ability to be flexible throughout the school day to accommodate student needs.
Ability and willingness to serve in a team-teaching capacity.
Ability to interpret evaluation results – both to explain information to parents/student and utilize the information to formulate student IEPs.
Understanding of services available in the community to refer parents to for additional help.
Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Ability and willingness to work closely with district Special Education Coordinator and Building Administration.

Performing all other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services or the Building Principal.
