About The Position

St. John Vianney Catholic School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Middle School Science Teacher for grades 6–8. The teacher will create engaging learning experiences that inspire students to investigate, question, and understand the natural world while integrating faith, academic excellence, and character development in a Catholic school environment.

The teacher will support students’ academic, spiritual, and personal growth and uphold the mission, philosophy, and values of St. John Vianney Catholic School.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related field.
• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an appropriate endorsement, or eligibility for certification.
• Knowledge of best practices in middle school instruction and classroom management.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to fostering student achievement and growth.
• Willingness to support the mission of Catholic education.

Nice To Haves

• Practicing Catholic.
• Experience teaching middle school science.
• Experience with STEM education, project-based learning, and instructional technology.
• Familiarity with Catholic school environments.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging science instruction aligned with state standards and the school curriculum.
• Teach life, physical, Earth, and environmental sciences.
• Develop and implement hands-on laboratory investigations, STEM activities, and project-based learning opportunities.
• Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and scientific inquiry.
• Differentiate instruction to meet students’ diverse learning needs.
• Assess student learning using formative and summative assessments.
• Maintain accurate grade records and communicate student progress to parents and administration.
• Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and respectful classroom environment.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student success and school initiatives.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, and extracurricular activities as assigned.
• Support and uphold the school’s mission, philosophy, and values.
