The Middle School Science Teacher will be responsible for exhibiting accurate knowledge of content and pedagogy, understanding students' individual development, needs, skills, and knowledge. This role involves selecting and using appropriate resources, adhering to Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and 504 plans, and designing coherent lessons, activities, and assessments of rigor that align with learning standards. The teacher will create a respectful and positive learning environment, establish effective classroom procedures, manage student behavior, and communicate effectively with students. Collaboration with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators is essential for resolving student issues. The position requires demonstrating high expectations, effective lesson delivery, strong questioning and discussion techniques, and providing timely, high-quality feedback. The teacher will utilize assessments during instruction, show flexibility and responsiveness to student learning, and reflect on teaching to improve student achievement. Maintaining accurate records, managing classroom equipment and materials, and communicating effectively with families about student progress are key duties. The role also involves contributing to the professional community, pursuing continued professional growth, and exhibiting professionalism in all interactions. Reporting child endangerment, neglect, or abuse, enforcing administration policies, attending professional meetings and development sessions, and assisting in student supervision are also required. Additional duties may include sponsoring extracurricular activities and performing other tasks assigned by administrators.
