About The Position

Sonoran Science Academy is an A-rated, STEM-focused charter school in Tucson, AZ and part of the Sonoran Schools network, a leader in K-12 STEM education since 2001. We are a tight-knit, mission-driven community where students are inspired and collaboration drives everything we do. We are looking for a Middle School Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year, serving grades 6 through 8. We are looking for an energetic educator with a genuine passion for STEM who brings hands-on, inquiry-based learning to life every day.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.
• Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required prior to start date.
• Minimum 3 years teaching experience, preferably middle school science or a science-related field.
• Genuine passion for STEM education and inquiry-based learning.
• Strong classroom management skills, especially at the middle school level.
• Collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
• Open to participating in competitions and school events beyond contracted hours.

Nice To Haves

• Degree in science, education, or a related field preferred.
• Arizona Department of Education Certification preferred or Highly Qualified through AEPA/NES testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver engaging, standards-aligned science curriculum for grades 6 through 8.
• Design and facilitate hands-on, inquiry-based lessons including labs, experiments, and collaborative projects.
• Foster a positive, structured classroom environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and teamwork.
• Use assessments and data to adjust instruction and meet diverse learning needs.
• Collaborate with the science department and staff to achieve shared academic goals.
• Participate in school competitions and community activities, including opportunities outside of contracted hours.
• Communicate regularly with students, parents, and administration.
• Participate in professional development and faculty meetings.
