Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and/or Master's in a related field
Experience teaching science
Experience in teaching hands-on, interactive labs with the use of technology
Experience in an interdisciplinary environment with an emphasis on group collaboration
Experience in teaching problem-solving skills in addition to traditional core content
Ability and willingness to work with students in large and small group settings using multiple teaching methods to reach a broad range of students
Desire to continually examine one’s practice with the goal to improve student learning
Commitment to issues of diversity, leadership, inclusion, and equity
A passion for working with young people
A desire to collaborate in a dynamic community of teachers and administrators
Excellent interpersonal, writing, and communication skills
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States
Willing to undergo both Livescan background check and TB screening as part of the hiring process

Nice To Haves

An advanced degree in Science Education and/or a related field that requires significant coursework in the sciences
Experience in working with grades 5-12 in an academic setting
Experience in innovative course design, planning, implementation, and assessment

Responsibilities

Teaching Middle School Science and elective courses
Serving as a co-advisor to a group of students
Developing daily lesson plans and assessment of student performance
Participating in various aspects of student life at Bentley such as advising students, clubs, coaching, or working with student organizations
Working collaboratively with administration, grade level teachers, specialists, and advisors
Developing and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues, students, and families
Supporting and following school policies and procedures
Creating a positive learning environment both remotely and on campus where students thrive academically
Engaging in regular supervisory duties including drop off, recess, lunch and pick up
Attending regular faculty, grade-level, and weekly department meetings
Attending Open Houses, Admissions events, and other special events as needed
Being a positive and contributing member of the Bentley community
Communicating effectively with parents through conferences, and report writing
