About The Position

Flagstaff Academy is seeking a full-time Middle School Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year, responsible for teaching students in grades six through eight. The role involves close collaboration with the Middle School Team to ensure a meaningful scope and sequence for the middle school Core Knowledge curriculum. Flagstaff Academy is a tuition-free public charter school located in Longmont, serving grades kindergarten through eighth, and also offers a tuition-based preschool program. Founded in 2005, it has become Longmont's premier science and technology school, serving approximately 800 students within the St. Vrain Valley School District. The school's mission is to develop students into well-rounded, ethical leaders with a foundation in science and technology, guided by principles such as providing a K-8 Core Knowledge-based education, offering scientific and technological exploration, pursuing excellence, promoting academic achievement and creativity, welcoming diverse students, and fostering respect.

Requirements

  • Subject expertise in physical science, life science, and earth and space science
  • Good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to work closely with families
  • Ability to form positive relationships with adolescents
  • Effective instructional delivery techniques
  • Proven ability to differentiate instruction and meet the needs of all students
  • Student-centered pedagogy practiced in differentiated instruction with a particular focus on the teaching of language arts through investigation and inquiry
  • Current Colorado teaching license
  • Ability to interpret and communicate student data
  • Strong systems orientation and commitment to follow-through
  • Experience working with middle school students
