About The Position

We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Robotics Coach to lead our Middle School robotics team. The coach will be responsible for guiding students in designing, building, and programming robots for various competitions. This role requires a passion for robotics and engineering, as well as the ability to inspire and mentor Middle School students. The position involves after-school sessions and participation in regional and national competitions.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in robotics, engineering, or a related field.
  • Previous coaching or mentoring experience, preferably with Middle School Students.
  • Strong knowledge of robotics platforms (e.g., FIRST Robotics, VEX Robotics) and programming languages (e.g., Java, C++).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for practices and competitions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and direction to the Middle School Robotics team.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment where all students feel valued and motivated.
  • Guide students in the design, construction, and programming of robots using various tools and software.
  • Teach and demonstrate principles of robotics, engineering, and computer programming.
  • Assist students in project planning and time management to ensure timely completion of robot builds and preparation for competitions.
  • Oversee the organization and maintenance of the robotics lab and equipment.
  • Prepare the team for local, regional, and national robotics competitions.
  • Organize and supervise practice sessions, scrimmages, and mock competitions.
  • Attend and Coordinate travel arrangements and logistics for attending competitions.
  • Mentor students in developing problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
  • Encourage students to take leadership roles and responsibilities within the team.
  • Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their skills and knowledge.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, school administration, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other coaches, mentors, and industry professionals to enhance the team's experience and opportunities.
  • Promote the robotics program within the school and the community to attract new members and supporters.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in a safe manner, adhering to school policies and competition rules.
  • Maintain an environment that prioritizes student safety and well-being.
