About The Position

Great Oaks Charter School in Bridgeport is seeking a School Academic Paraprofessional to support students’ academic success. The paraprofessional works closely with teachers and administrators to assist with classroom management, instruction, tutoring, and educational support services. The role involves supporting students’ individual learning needs, including students with special needs, and promoting student engagement, leadership, respect, and community participation. Great Oaks’ educational model combines authentic learning experiences, whole- and small-group instruction, flexible scheduling, and embedded tutoring, with instruction and school culture grounded in mastery, leadership, and community.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in education or youth development.
• Associate’s degree or higher.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to implement lesson plans that address students’ learning needs.
• Provide individual and small-group tutoring to support students’ skill development.
• Foster a positive classroom environment and encourage student engagement.
• Support students with special needs in accordance with their individual education plans (IEPs).
• Collaborate with AmeriCorps Fellows to reinforce critical content.
• Promote respect, leadership, and community engagement among students.
