About The Position

Salem Public Schools is seeking up to eight middle school educators and City Connects Coordinators to serve on a Middle School MyCAP Planning Team. This team will help coordinate planning for the next phase of MyCAP implementation by reviewing the work that took place this year and proposing a clear, grade-specific scope and sequence for next year’s weekly MyCAP time. The goal is for this work to build both explicit and integrated opportunities throughout the year for all grades. The MyCAP Planning Team will help shift weekly middle school time from a stand-alone “SEL block” into a more coherent MyCAP experience. This means preserving important SEL goals, such as belonging, self-awareness, relationships, and decision-making, while also intentionally connecting that work to students’ academic growth, interests, strengths, career awareness, goal-setting, and future planning. For example, this work will integrate Student Led Conference preparation into the SEL scope and sequence. The planning team will focus on aligning existing SEL, advisory, career exploration, student support, and other middle school experiences to the MyCAP framework in order to create a more coherent and developmentally appropriate experience for students.
