About The Position

KIPP Nashville Public Schools is seeking a Middle School Multilingual Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This role is crucial in supporting students acquiring the English language and ensuring compliance with Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs). The ML Teacher will collaborate with Lead Teachers and General Education teachers to provide direct services, adapt instruction, and monitor student progress. Requirements

  • Valid Tennessee teaching license with English as a Second Language Pre-K-12 (490) endorsement OR proof of enrollment in a job-embedded Educator Preparation Program
  • Conferred Bachelor’s degree
  • Pass a Criminal Background Check

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload for students acquiring the English language and provide Direct Services.
  • Provide critical guidance to Lead Teachers to ensure compliance with Individualized Learning Plans and meet the needs of multilingual students.
  • Provide a variety of Direct Services such as: ELD Sheltered, Content Based Instruction, Structured English Instruction, and other TNDOE approved Service Models.
  • Meet with general education teachers to answer questions, provide strategies and supports, give input for Individualized learning plans, collaborate on lesson plans, and track student progress.
  • Work with General Education teachers to adapt and differentiate weekly lesson plans, assessments and homework to meet individual student goals.
  • Identify and screen qualifying multilingual students using the Universal WIDA Screener or W-APT.
  • Use data to create and monitor Individualized Learning Plans (ILP).
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and district ML regulations.
  • Follow KIPP: Nashville Developed processes for entering and exiting students into services.
  • Administer and implement accommodations for relevant assessments (including, but not limited to WIDA screener and WIDA ACCESS, TNReady, and other content assessments).
  • Create and maintain ILPs for all ML students and former ML students.
  • Track transitional students (T1-T2) who have already exited to monitor growth or reassess services.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of individual students in accordance with their ILPs and grade level expectations.
  • Use progress-monitoring tools to analyze student results for the purpose of modifying and adjusting strategies and programming.
  • Provide students with daily feedback on mastery performance in character and academics.
  • Demonstrate strong pedagogy.

  • Help develop school-wide culture that best fits the needs of our students, teachers and families.
  • Attend and participate in all staff meetings and communicate openly with staff.

  • Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents and share progress.
