About The Position

College Tutors of Minneapolis is seeking an engaging full-time Title I Middle School Math Tutor at Hope Academy in Minneapolis, MN. This position begins in November 2026, with an optional earlier start as a part-time role (Thursdays and Fridays) for qualified candidates. The role involves providing Tier II small group instruction to students at risk for math difficulties, utilizing evidence-based strategies, and progress monitoring to adjust instruction. Collaboration with classroom teachers is essential. On Fridays, the tutor will oversee a shared WIN time for both Title math and Title reading students, managing reading assignments as well. Hope Academy's mission is to foster hope in God by closing the achievement gap and preparing students for college and beyond, serving over 650 students in a diverse, urban community.

Requirements

  • Minimum BS or BA in Education, Mathematics, or Related Field
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Supportive of the school's mission to foster hope in God within the inner-city neighborhood of Minneapolis by providing youth with an outstanding, Christ-centered education.
  • Ability to effectively educate in a multi-racial, multi-ethnic, and economically under-resourced urban community.
  • Desire to equip the children of the city with an academically rigorous, comprehensive, classical Christian education to prepare them to deal with the complex issues of living in this present society.
  • Willingness to go above and beyond in building relationships with students.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid teaching license in good standing preferred
  • Training in intervention methods strongly preferred; please provide certificates

Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier II small group instruction to students who are identified as at-risk for math
  • Use evidence-based strategies and interventions to support student learning
  • Use progress monitoring to assess student progress and adjust instruction as needed
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure students receive the support they need
  • Attend Title staff meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Oversee a shared WIN time for both Title math and Title reading students on Fridays, managing reading assignments for students.
