About The Position

Saint Bartholomew School, a Catholic PK–8 school committed to academic excellence and faith formation, seeks a passionate, innovative, and student-centered educator to serve as a Middle School Math, Science, and STEM Teacher. The successful candidate will teach Grade 6 and Grade 7 Mathematics, Grades 6–8 Science, and help support the development of a growing STEM program that inspires curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, and real-world application of learning. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an educator who enjoys building strong relationships with students, integrating hands-on learning experiences, and helping shape the future of STEM education within a supportive Catholic school community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, Science, STEM, or a related field.
  • Eligibility for teacher certification in Maryland or the Archdiocese of Washington.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the mission of Catholic education.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Grade 6 and Grade 7 Mathematics.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Use assessment data to guide instruction and intervention.
  • Foster mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Teach Grade 6 Earth Science, Grade 7 Life Science, and Grade 8 Physical Science.
  • Implement hands-on laboratory experiences and inquiry-based learning.
  • Utilize school-provided curriculum resources and textbooks.
  • Connect scientific concepts to real-world applications and current events.
  • Promote scientific investigation, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Incorporate STEM activities, engineering design challenges, and project-based learning into science and math instruction.
  • Collaborate with administration to support the school's multi-year STEM implementation plan.
  • Explore STEM curriculum resources and best practices.
  • Help cultivate a culture of innovation, creativity, and problem-solving.
  • Assist in developing future STEM opportunities, clubs, competitions, and enrichment experiences.
  • Support and uphold the mission and values of Catholic education.
  • Integrate Catholic identity and Gospel values into daily interactions and instruction.
  • Participate in school liturgies, prayer services, faculty meetings, and professional development.
  • Foster a classroom environment built on respect, responsibility, compassion, and service.
  • Maintain timely communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Keep accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.
  • Collaborate with faculty to support student growth and school initiatives.
  • Participate actively in the life of the school community.
  • Perform duties such as carpool, recess, lunch, and classroom teacher substitution (as required).
  • Participate in all required faculty and professional development meetings.
