About The Position

The IEP Specialist coordinates and evaluates the educational program in collaboration with the Director and resource team. The role provides academic, social, and emotional services for students who need additional support, uses instructional models and curriculum, conducts assessments, and uses data to develop and implement instructional plans. The specialist also serves as a mentor and resource to classroom staff and works across departments to implement educational programs. In conjunction with the school Director, the role contributes to recruiting, interviewing, selecting, and onboarding new staff.

Requirements

Current special education teaching license or Principal License.
Experience working with staff in a coaching capacity.
Strong oral and written professional communication skills.
Ability to record and analyze data using Excel and Google Drive.

Responsibilities

Work with classroom staff to coordinate and manage special education programs, assess needs, and determine student assignments.
Assist the Principal with recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new campus staff.
Develop and implement transition planning and services, including Indicator 13.
Maintain the IEP database and student file scan database.
Prepare for and attend students’ IEP meetings, ensure documentation is completed accurately before meetings, and monitor IEPs for ISBE compliance.
Plan and implement staff and parent education related to special education programs.
Maintain close working relationships with the school district, parents, and community.
Provide and monitor crisis intervention at the school.
Organize, plan, and deliver professional development and staff meeting training.
Participate in Education Committee meetings and relay information to the resource team.
