About The Position

Moravian Academy's Swain Campus is seeking a Humanities teacher for grades 6-8 who thrives on the energy of middle schoolers. This full-time, 10-month position involves teaching multiple sections of English Language Arts and History, serving as a student advisor, and actively contributing to the school community. The role emphasizes collaboration across disciplines, participation in professional learning, and engaging families as partners in student growth. Middle school is viewed as a significant destination in itself at Moravian Academy.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in English, History, Education, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated experience and genuine enthusiasm for teaching middle school-aged students.
• Strong understanding of adolescent development and middle school pedagogy.
• Ability to design differentiated, inquiry-driven instruction for diverse learners.
• Skill in building trust-based relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
• Successful completion of required Pennsylvania background clearances (Act 34, Act 151, Act 114) before start of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree preferred.
• Experience with Responsive Classroom, Developmental Design, or comparable SEL frameworks preferred.
• 5 or more years of middle school teaching experience preferred.
• Background in an independent school or college-preparatory setting preferred.
• Familiarity with Google Workspace for Education preferred.
