About The Position

Boston College High School is seeking a dynamic and mission-aligned Middle School Counselor for the 2026-2027 academic year. This role is crucial for supporting students' academic, social, and emotional growth. The counselor will collaborate with teachers, the other Arrupe Middle School counselor, and the administration, and will be an essential member of the Arrupe Middle School leadership team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated experience working with 7th and 8th grade students.
  • Demonstrated experience with middle school advisory programs.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to work with students and parents and to collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to support students.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Jesuit, Catholic education and holistic student formation.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in counseling preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Arrupe Middle School administrators, other counselors, the staff of the Academic Resource Center, and the teachers to support all students within the division.
  • Provide individual counseling to students.
  • Run support groups for students.
  • Plan and implement the advisory curriculum.
  • Lead an advisory group.
  • Run workshops, flex activities, and assemblies.
  • Plan, organize, and execute parent programs such as parent coffees.
  • Organize programming to support mental and physical wellness.
  • Support teachers in their work with students.
  • Plan and run student of concern meetings.
  • Attend to assigned prefecting duties.
