About The Position

Sonoran Science Academy Tucson is a STEM-focused public charter school providing a rigorous, college-prep education through a challenging curriculum and continuous assessment. SSA Tucson is looking for a Middle School History Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (required).
Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Strong classroom management and communication skills.
Passion for student learning and a commitment to academic excellence.

Nice To Haves

Arizona Secondary Teaching Certificate (preferred).

Responsibilities

Teaching middle school History courses, including U.S. History, World History, Government, and/or Economics as assigned.
Developing engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans that promote critical thinking and historical inquiry.
Helping students analyze primary and secondary sources, evaluate evidence, and understand multiple historical perspectives.
Fostering meaningful classroom discussions that encourage civic engagement and respectful debate.
Using student data to differentiate instruction and support academic growth.
Creating a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes student success.
Collaborating with colleagues, families, and school leadership to support student achievement.
Participating in school events, professional development, and extracurricular activities.
