About The Position

This role involves instructing English Learner students in both oral and written language activities to facilitate their integration into the school's overall program. The teacher will also recommend modifications to regular classroom assignments based on students' English language proficiency and contribute to the development of the ESL program and assessment materials.

Requirements

• Certification as Teacher of English as a Second Language.

Nice To Haves

• Experience as teacher of English as a Second Language in a public school setting preferred.
• Fluency in a second language preferred.
• Extended experience living in another culture preferred.

Responsibilities

• Instruct English Learner students individually or in groups in oral language activities that foster the child's participation in the school's total program.
• Provide written language activities until the student is ready to join an existing language arts group within the school.
• Recommend appropriate modifications of the child's regular classroom assignments with respect to the existing English language level.
• Assist in developing a sequential ESL Program.
• Assist in developing/assembling relevant assessment materials.
• Assist in developing/assembling materials for classroom use.
