About The Position

This position provides academic support to English Learner (EL) students in general education and ESL classrooms, helping students access curriculum and complete assignments. The role focuses on supporting language development by reinforcing vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing, and speaking skills in one-on-one or small-group settings. The paraprofessional will also assist in the supervision and engagement of EL students throughout the school day, including structured study or intervention periods. Collaboration with ESL and content-area teachers is key for gathering and organizing instructional materials. The role involves facilitating accommodations and modifications as outlined in individual Language Acquisition Plans and serving as a liaison between students, teachers, and the ESL teacher. Maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills in culturally diverse settings are essential. The position requires regular and reliable in-person attendance and teamwork to help students build success stories.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • Basic computer literacy desired
  • Some familiarity with library and media preferred
  • Organizational and clerical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to relate to students, parents, staff, teachers, and members of the community
  • Regular and reliable in-person attendance
