About The Position

The Middle School Director serves as the school's instructional and administrative leader, responsible for fostering a positive learning environment, ensuring the academic success of all students, and overseeing daily operations. This role requires awareness of current trends and challenges in middle school education and an understanding of effective strategies for creating an inclusive and equitable school environment.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience, preferably at the middle school level.
  • Valid administrative or principal certification as required by the state.
  • Possession of an Administrative Services Credential from California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
  • Deep understanding of adolescent development and its impact on learning and behavior.
  • Knowledge of middle school curriculum standards, instructional methodologies, and assessment practices.
  • Familiarity with state and federal education laws, including special education and student support services.
  • Awareness of current trends and challenges in middle school education.
  • Proficiency in data analysis to inform instructional decision-making.
  • Understanding of effective strategies for creating an inclusive and equitable school environment.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
  • Knowledge of current educational trends, curriculum design, and best practices.
  • Ability to foster a positive and collaborative school culture.
  • Proficiency in using technology for administrative and instructional purposes.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior administrative or leadership experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement school-wide educational goals and programs aligned with state standards and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
  • Support teachers with instructional strategies, curriculum development, and professional growth.
  • Analyze student performance data to identify areas of improvement and implement action plans to address them.
  • Promote the use of innovative technologies and instructional practices to enhance learning.
  • Oversee daily school operations, including scheduling, facilities management, and resource allocation.
  • Manage and monitor the school budget to ensure effective use of resources.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develop and enforce school policies, procedures, and codes of conduct.
  • Supervise and evaluate school staff, including teachers, support staff, and volunteers.
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive school environment.
  • Address the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students.
  • Collaborate with staff to implement interventions for at-risk students.
  • Foster strong relationships with students to promote their success and well-being.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with families and the community.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders through newsletters, meetings, and events.
  • Encourage parent involvement in school activities and decision-making.
  • Partner with community organizations to support school initiatives and student needs.
  • Recruit, hire, and retain highly qualified staff.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching, and professional development opportunities for teachers and staff.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to align goals and address concerns.
