About The Position

Sewickley Academy is seeking a part-time Middle School Boys Basketball Coach to provide leadership and guidance to student-athletes. The ideal candidate has a passion for basketball and a proven coaching record. The coach will develop and implement the basketball program, prepare athletes for practices and competitions, support student-athletes’ physical and academic development, and ensure the program follows applicable policies and regulations.

Requirements

• Previous successful coaching experience at the high school varsity or collegiate level.
• Strong knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their full potential.
• Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team culture.
• Proven ability to foster academic growth for all student-athletes.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to acquire these certifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive basketball program.
• Plan and conduct individual and team practices.
• Plan, develop, and implement competitive game strategies.
• Collaborate with sports performance staff to enhance student-athletes’ physical capabilities.
• Provide guidance to the administration on strategic scheduling.
• Provide leadership to players, coaches, and staff in the basketball program.
• Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes sportsmanship and teamwork.
• Foster an environment focused on the institution’s academic mission.
• Ensure compliance with Academy, WPIAL, and PIAA policies and regulations.
