About The Position

The Middle School Athletic Director provides leadership and coordination for the school's athletic programs. This extra-duty position is responsible for organizing, supervising, and promoting interscholastic athletics while ensuring programs operate in a safe, positive, and educational environment. The Athletic Director works collaboratively with coaches, students, families, school staff, officials, and community partners to support student-athletes and foster school pride.

Requirements

  • Successful experience working with middle school students.
  • Knowledge of interscholastic athletics, athletic program management, and student eligibility requirements.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of students, staff, families, and community members.
  • Ability to work some evenings during athletic seasons.

  • Valid Oregon teaching or administrative license preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all middle school athletic programs, including fall, winter, and spring sports.
  • Recruit, recommend, and support coaches in accordance with district hiring procedures.
  • Organize schedules, transportation, facilities, equipment, and officials for athletic events.
  • Ensure compliance with district policies, league regulations, and state athletic association requirements.
  • Monitor student-athlete eligibility and participation requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, coaches, staff, and community members regarding athletic programs and expectations.
  • Develop and maintain athletic schedules, calendars, and event information.
  • Oversee athletic budgets, equipment inventories, and purchasing requests.
  • Coordinate game-day operations and provide administrative support during athletic events as needed.
  • Promote sportsmanship, character development, and positive behavior among student-athletes, coaches, and spectators.
  • Address concerns and resolve conflicts related to athletic programs in a professional and timely manner.
  • Attend league meetings and represent the school in matters related to athletics.
  • Recognize and celebrate student-athlete and team accomplishments.
