About The Position

Rocky Mountain Prep (RMP) is seeking a Middle School Assistant Principal of Instruction (API) to lead instructional staff in achieving ambitious, measurable student outcomes. The API will coach and develop a portfolio of teachers through frequent observation, real-time feedback, and clear performance expectations. This role involves analyzing academic data to prioritize support, ensuring high-quality implementation of curriculum and assessments, and designing and facilitating professional development to strengthen instructional practice. The API will hold teachers accountable for excellence while fostering rigorous, inclusive learning environments where all students consistently access grade-level content. Strong relationships with staff, students, and families are key to driving continuous improvement and contributing to a high-achieving school culture aligned with RMP’s academic goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • At least three years of full-time teaching experience in a K–12 setting
  • At least two years of full-time teacher leadership or administrative experience
  • Experience managing, coaching, or developing adult team members
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving strong academic or organizational results in schools
  • Successful completion of a background check
  • Eligibility to work in the United States (Rocky Mountain Prep participates in E-Verify to confirm identity and employment eligibility)

Responsibilities

  • Lead instructional staff to achieve ambitious, measurable student outcomes by coaching and developing a portfolio of teachers through frequent observation, real-time feedback, and clear performance expectations.
  • Analyze academic data to prioritize support, ensure high-quality implementation of curriculum and assessments, and design and facilitate professional development that strengthens instructional practice.
  • Hold teachers accountable for excellence while building rigorous, inclusive learning environments where all students consistently access grade-level content.
  • Lead intellectual preparation systems that ensure teachers consistently plan rigorous, standards-aligned lessons and receive timely, actionable feedback that strengthens lesson execution.
  • Model strong instructional practice and support teachers to translate feedback into immediate improvements in lesson execution.
  • Analyze student work and academic data across daily, interim, and long-term cycles to identify trends and prioritize high-impact coaching.
  • Design and facilitate professional learning experiences aligned to teacher needs and school priorities that drive measurable growth in instructional practice.
  • Ensure strong implementation of curriculum and assessment systems to accelerate progress toward Rocky Mountain Prep’s Big Five academic goals.
  • Develop teacher ownership and accountability through clear expectations, consistent monitoring, and reflective coaching conversations.
  • Coach and develop a portfolio of teachers through frequent observation, targeted feedback, and goal-setting that improves instructional effectiveness.
  • Conduct mid-year and end-of-year evaluations grounded in evidence, professional growth, and student outcomes.
  • Build systems that promote continuous improvement, clarity of expectations, and strong follow-through across instructional teams.
  • Model decisive, equity-driven leadership and take deep ownership for team performance and results.
  • Cultivate a rigorous, inclusive, and high-achieving learning environment for students and staff.
  • Support behavior systems that protect instructional time and reinforce consistent academic and cultural expectations.
  • Facilitate productive and courageous conversations that strengthen trust and alignment among staff, students, and families.
  • Contribute to school-wide culture systems that foster belonging, enthusiasm for learning, and academic urgency.
  • Align grade-level operational systems with instructional priorities related to attendance, enrollment, and persistence.
  • Lead and participate actively in leadership meetings, instructional planning routines, and school-wide responsibilities to ensure strong execution of campus goals.
  • Build authentic, culturally responsive relationships with families that strengthen partnership in support of student success.
  • Maintain proactive communication with students and families to remove barriers to learning and promote engagement.
