About The Position

Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver (ACAND) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Assistant Boys Basketball Coach. This role is ideal for individuals committed to developing young athletes and embodying high character and professionalism. The assistant coach will represent the school community with integrity when interacting with leagues, organizations, schools, and media outlets. The position requires availability during the winter season, typically late October through December, with practices and games held after school during the school week. Weekly hours are estimated at 10-12.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Commitment to fostering a positive and all-encompassing team environment.
  • Complete all required coaching training prior to the start of each sport season.
  • Loyalty to the mission and vision of the school and ACACS.
  • Commitment to model moral character in line with the school's core virtues.
  • Adherence to all ACACS policies, including the Athletic Handbook, Employee Handbook, Family Handbook, and all applicable school and board policies.
  • Mandatory background check, including review of criminal records and potential fingerprinting.
  • Verification of qualifications and reference checks.
  • Adherence to Colorado Education Laws.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree.
  • Previous high school or middle school coaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and work with athletes under the guidance of the head coach to prepare them for competition.
  • Assist the head coach in all phases of the sport program, including player development and team strategy.
  • Demonstrate leadership by implementing the expectations and direction of the program.
  • Prepare the team for competition.
  • Attend all practices and games.
  • Assist with the setup and takedown of equipment for practices and games.
  • Complete all required training and provide documentation, including official college transcripts, within 90 days of hire.
  • Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance, reporting on time and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Stipend wage of $500.00 or higher based on coaching experience.
