Middle School Boys Basketball Coach
About The Position
The Part-Time Middle School Boys Basketball Coach develops student-athletes through Christ-centered coaching, skill development, and competitive excellence. This role leads practices and games while building basketball fundamentals, teamwork, discipline, and character. The ideal candidate is relational, dependable, and committed to developing young men on and off the court while supporting the mission and culture of Covenant Christian Academy Athletics. The coach is expected to integrate biblical truth and Christian values into instruction, leadership, and daily interactions, demonstrating strong organization, follow-through, and attention to detail. They should proactively identify needs, solve problems, and improve systems related to indoor facility use and care, modeling professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to high standards. The role also involves treating students, coaches, officials, and staff with respect, patience, and humility, supporting colleagues with a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset, and communicating clearly, timely, and graciously. The coach must model Christ-like integrity, servant leadership, and self-discipline, demonstrating a growing personal faith evident in relationships, work ethic, and decision-making. Active support of the mission, values, and community life of Covenant Christian Academy, including faithful participation in a local church, is expected.
Requirements
- A mature and growing faith in Jesus Christ consistent with Covenant Christian Academy's Statement of Faith.
- A passion for mentoring and developing student-athletes through Christian education.
- Strong knowledge of the game of basketball and the ability to teach its fundamentals.
- Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
- Dependable, professional, and committed to teamwork.
Nice To Haves
- Previous coaching or competitive basketball experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Middle School Boys Basketball team in practices and games.
- Teach basketball fundamentals, individual skills, and team concepts.
- Develop young men through Christlike character, discipline, teamwork, and competitive excellence.
- Build strong relationships that support spiritual, athletic, and personal growth.
- Create a positive team culture aligned with the Cougar Way and the overall Boys Basketball program.
- Plan and lead organized, purposeful practices and game preparation.
- Communicate effectively with players, families, the Boys Basketball Head Coach, and Athletic Department.
- Assist with equipment, uniforms, schedules, and other team needs.
- Follow all school, league, and athletic department policies and expectations.
- Represent Covenant Christian Academy with professionalism and integrity.
