About The Position

American Heritage School is seeking a part-time Middle School Art Aide for the 2026-27 school year. This role supports the middle school visual arts program (grades 6-8) by assisting the lead Art Teacher with classroom preparation, materials management, and student support. The position is approximately 12 hours per week. The Art Aide works closely with the Middle School Art Teacher and Fine Arts Department Chair to maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment and ensure students have the necessary tools for learning and creating. This position is considered a faith-forming role, and aides are expected to actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Requirements

Experience working with students in an educational/creative setting preferred.
Interest or background knowledge in the visual arts (e.g., drawing, painting, or sketching).
Organized, reliable, and able to follow direction.
Positive and respectful communication with students and staff.
Enduring love of youth and a genuine passion for teaching and learning.
Commitment to actively participate in and contribute to a faith-based educational environment aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Professional in appearance and demeanor.
Willing and able to serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement.
Personal conduct, public statements, and online presence, both on and off campus, must reflect and support the school's religious mission and educational purpose.

Responsibilities

Assisting with preparation, organization, and cleanup of materials for art classes.
Supporting students during class sessions under the direction of the teacher.
Maintaining art supplies, tools, and equipment; help track and replenish inventory.
Assisting in mounting and displaying student artwork throughout the school.
Helping to organize art shows and exhibitions as needed.
Performing basic clerical and classroom tasks such as making copies, organizing student work, and setting up demonstrations.
Encouraging safe use of art materials and tools.
Supporting the mission and values of American Heritage School.
Integrating faith-based principles and moral reasoning into classroom instruction where appropriate.
Serving as an example of Christian character and discipleship to students.
Supporting and upholding the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions with students and colleagues.
Participating in school-wide devotionals, prayer, and other faith-centered activities.
Responding thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making in a manner consistent with the school's mission.
