About The Position

Flagstaff Academy is seeking a full time Middle School Art Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The candidate is responsible for teaching students in grades six through eight. The position requires close collaboration with the Middle School Team to ensure that there is a meaningful scope and sequence for the middle school Core Knowledge curriculum.

Requirements

  • Current Colorado teaching license
  • Ability to interpret and communicate student data
  • Strong systems orientation and commitment to follow-through
  • Experience working with middle school students
  • Three years teaching experience preferred
  • Experience designing instruction for mixed ability middle school art classes
  • Ability to assess student progress in art using an art portfolio system
  • Organization to prepare students and their work for various art shows, displays and events
  • Experience with integrating technology into art curriculum, instruction, and methods
  • Good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A willingness to work closely with families
  • Ability to form positive relationships with adolescents
  • Effective instructional delivery techniques
  • Proven ability to differentiate instruction and meet the needs of all students.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching students in grades six through eight.
  • Close collaboration with the Middle School Team to ensure that there is a meaningful scope and sequence for the middle school Core Knowledge curriculum.
  • Deliver dynamic educational experiences with high educational expectations and accountability.
  • Design instruction for mixed ability middle school art classes.
  • Assess student progress in art using an art portfolio system.
  • Prepare students and their work for various art shows, displays and events.
  • Integrate technology into art curriculum, instruction, and methods.
  • Work closely with families.
  • Form positive relationships with adolescents.
  • Differentiate instruction and meet the needs of all students.
  • Pedagogy should be student-centered and practiced in differentiated instruction with a particular focus on the teaching of language arts through investigation and inquiry.

Employees contribute 11% of monthly earnings while Flagstaff Academy contributes 21.4% to the PERA pension trust fund on the employee’s behalf
  • Life/AD&D insurance - Flagstaff Academy provides a Life/AD&D insurance policy with a $40,000 benefit for each eligible employee
