Microsoft SQL Server DBA Intern
About The Position
The Database Administrator Intern will work with senior members of Motion’s database team, learning multiple database platforms as part of an evolving database landscape. The internship’s primary objective is to support the long-term feasibility of Motion’s Continuous Integration and Delivery (CICD) lifecycle for database deployments. The position offers experience with on-premises and cloud database technologies and governance policies. The intern will collaborate with IT departments and business teams to plan and support the future growth of the enterprise landscape. The position is based at Motion’s Birmingham, Alabama headquarters, and interns work onsite.
Requirements
- Education in IT, MIS, or a related field.
- Knowledge of database administration.
- Attention to detail.
- Project planning skills.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with SQL.
- Experience with Windows PowerShell and Linux shell scripting.
- Experience with AI tools.
- A reporting and analytics background.
- Familiarity with version control, such as ADO or GitHub.
- Knowledge of networking, including NFS, DNS, operating systems, and TCP/IP.
- Experience with database administration tools, including Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, pgAdmin, and MongoDB Compass.
- Experience with Power BI.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Replication.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside development and infrastructure team members to create and support Azure DevOps workflows and approval gates.
- Help support cloud database technologies, working with Google’s database suite.
- Plan and coordinate deployment procedures.
- Take part in Agile ceremonies.
