Microsoft SQL Server DBA Intern
About The Position
The Database Administrator Intern will be part of Motion’s evolving database landscape, working with senior members of the database team and learning multiple database platforms. The internship focuses on the long-term support and feasibility of Motion’s Continuous Integration and Delivery (CICD) lifecycle for database deployments. The role offers experience with on-premises and cloud database technologies and governance policies. The intern will also collaborate with other IT departments and the business to plan and position the enterprise landscape for future growth. The position is based at Motion’s Birmingham, Alabama headquarters, where interns work onsite.
Requirements
- Education in IT, MIS, or a related field.
- Database administration knowledge.
- Attention to detail.
- Project planning skills.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with SQL.
- Experience with Windows PowerShell and Linux shell scripting.
- Experience with AI tools.
- Reporting and analytics background.
- Familiarity with version control, including ADO or GitHub.
- Networking knowledge, including NFS, DNS, operating systems, and TCP/IP.
- Experience with database administration tools.
- Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, PGAdmin, MongoDB Compass, and Power BI.
- Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server Replication.
Responsibilities
- Work with development and infrastructure team members to create and support Azure DevOps workflows and approval gates.
- Help support cloud database technologies, including Google’s database suite.
- Plan and coordinate deployment procedures.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies.
