About The Position

The Microsoft 365 Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration, security, availability, and ongoing improvement of the organization’s Microsoft 365 environment. This role ensures that collaboration, communication, and productivity platforms are reliable, secure, and aligned with business needs while driving adoption of new features and best practices.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Expert knowledge of Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and Entra ID.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 security and compliance tools.
  • Working knowledge of PowerShell for administration and automation.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft certifications such as Microsoft 365 Administrator, Security, Compliance, or Messaging preferred.
  • Experience with Intune / endpoint management preferred.
  • Familiarity with hybrid identity environments is preferred.
  • Experience supporting mid-to-large enterprise users preferred.
  • Familiarity with Teams Phone systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support Microsoft 365 services including Entra ID (Azure AD), Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Intune, Teams, PowerBi, OneDrive, and Microsoft 365 Apps.
  • Manage user accounts, licensing, groups, and access permissions.
  • Perform routine maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Microsoft 365 services.
  • Coordinate service changes, updates, and feature rollouts.
  • Consult with internal staff and external vendors to evaluate overall system performance and proactively identify areas for improvement.
  • Participate in project activities, providing status updates, resource estimates, and guidance on software solution scope and requirements.
  • Document all aspects of the solution for future upgrades and maintenance.
  • Learn and apply NRS’s established standards for technology, tools, and techniques.
  • Configure and maintain security controls such as MFA, Conditional Access, and role-based access.
  • Implement and manage compliance features including retention policies, eDiscovery, and data loss prevention (DLP).
  • Monitor service health, security alerts, and audit logs; respond to incidents as needed.
  • Support internal audits and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Act as an escalation point for Microsoft 365-related issues from the service desk.
  • Partner with IT and business stakeholders to improve collaboration and productivity workflows.
  • Create and maintain documentation, standards, and user guidance.
  • Assist with training initiatives and user adoption of Microsoft 365 features.
  • Build trust and strong working relationships with Technology and Business stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize Microsoft 365 usage, performance, and cost.
  • Evaluate new Microsoft 365 features and recommend enhancements.
  • Develop scripts and automation (e.g., PowerShell) to streamline administrative tasks.
  • Maintain platform roadmaps and improvement plans.
