About The Position

The Corporate Analytical Division is seeking a full-time Laboratory Technician in the Microbiology and Materials Analysis Laboratory. Responsibilities include performing all duties in a safe manner, performing analytical testing in a Biological Safety Level 2 lab, identifying and characterizing the key microorganisms responsible for cellulose ester biodegradation in relevant test systems, collaborating to develop and refine internal test methods (BioFUN) to improve reproducibility, relevance, and alignment with external certification protocols, effectively organizing and communicating experimental results, documenting work in a lab notebook, and drafting technical reports summarizing research as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Associates Degree / Technical Diploma in a Scientific Field.
  • Completed the following mandatory chemistry/scientific courses: General Chemistry I & Lab, General Chemistry II & Lab, Organic Chemistry I & Lab, Organic Chemistry II & Lab, Quantitative Analysis
  • Formal training in general laboratory procedures.
  • Problem solving, math and science skills and familiarity with statistical methodology.
  • Initiative and the ability to work in a team setting. Clear and effective written and oral communication is essential.
  • General computer experience with relevant and Microsoft software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • B.S. Degree in Microbiology and analytical labs strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a Biological Safety level 2 laboratory strongly preferred
  • Experience with polyester thermoplastics preferred
