Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Food Science, or a related scientific discipline with 4 to 6 years of related experience or High School Diploma/General Education Degree and 7 to 9 plus years of specific experience
  • Microbiology laboratory experience
  • Experience in food manufacturing, beverage production, Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related industries
  • Strong knowledge of microbiological testing techniques and laboratory practices
  • Understanding of GMP, GLP, HACCP, FDA, USDA, and ISO standards
  • Experience with environmental monitoring programs

  • HACCP/PCQI Certification
  • Microbiologist Certification
  • 2 plus years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, water, environmental monitoring samples, and other laboratory specimens
  • Ensure testing is performed according to approved methods, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and regulatory requirements
  • Review, interpret, and approve microbiological test results
  • Investigate out-of-specification (OOS) results, deviations, and contamination events
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and testing supplies
  • Collect microbiological sampling of beverages, syrups, raw materials, and sanitation effectiveness swabbing by utilizing Aseptic Technique to prevent sample contamination
  • Ability to work in laboratory and manufacturing environments
  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 pounds as needed
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Other projects or duties as assigned
