About The Position

The Electronics Micro Inspector ensures the quality, integrity, and conformance of HFM products and materials through precision microscopy-based inspection of integrated circuit assemblies, semiconductor wafers, and IC dies. The role requires adherence to IPC-610 and MIL-STD-883 inspection standards and compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 quality-management protocols. The inspector works with micro-assembly, Engineering, and MPE teams to identify and disposition nonconforming products and support rework. Additional duties include laser cutting manufacturing materials, processing AS/400 transactions, and supporting final-stock operations.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of processes and procedures for handling sensitive electronic components.
  • Knowledge of processes and procedures for working in low-particle-count environments, such as cleanrooms or under laminar-flow hoods.
  • Knowledge of microelectronic assembly and component inspection criteria, including MIL-STD-883 and acceptance criteria for die attach, wire or ribbon bonding, and MMIC chip-outs.
  • Knowledge of miniature solder assembly inspection criteria, including IPC/J-STD.
  • Ability to inspect against detailed assembly drawings.
  • Comfort operating under a microscope for a large portion of the day.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and accept new initiatives to improve group efficiency.
  • Ability and willingness to comply with the company Code of Conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Read work orders and inspect integrated circuit assemblies, semiconductor wafers, and IC dies against company standards and IPC-610 and MIL-STD-883 criteria.
  • Use a microscope to detect defects such as broken or bridged circuit lines, misalignments, symbol errors, and missing solder.
  • Conduct high-magnification inspections, take photographic evidence, and perform elemental material analysis.
  • Work with micro-assembly personnel to address defects and advise on rework.
  • Disposition nonconforming in-process products.
  • Coordinate inspection and product-quality activities with Engineering and MPE teams.
  • Pack final-stock materials after the final inspection process.
  • Follow and enforce AS9100, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 protocols and processes.
  • Laser-cut manufacturing materials, perform preventive maintenance, and track material expiration dates.
  • Calibrate, verify, and document ESD benches and soldering stations.
  • Measure, monitor, and record cleanroom particle levels.
  • Perform AS/400 transactions.
