About The Position

The Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE) is seeking a qualified individual to develop and deliver an early Mi'kmaw language program for Grades 4-8. This role involves incorporating cultural teachings and traditional protocols into program delivery. The SRCE is part of the public education system in Nova Scotia, established to support student learning, achievement, well-being, and overall success. With approximately 1,166 employees, the SRCE operates 20 schools and pre-primary programs across the counties of Antigonish, Guysborough, Inverness, and Richmond.

Requirements

Valid teacher certification for the Province of Nova Scotia
Classroom experience teaching Mi'kmaw language.
Methodology courses, experience, or practicum teaching in the subject area(s) at the appropriate level for the competition.
Excellent classroom and student management skills.
Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning.
Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies.
Proficient knowledge of Mi'kmaw history, with an understanding of culture, traditions, ceremonies, principles, and values.
Mi'kmaw descent
Application must include at least three (3) work-related references, one must be your most recent supervisor.
