About The Position

This job assists with the delivery of patient care under the direction of the registered nurse. Assists in implementing care and physical management of the patient. Collaborates with primary nurse and physician to establish goals for patients. Provides input into the treatment plan by sharing pertinent patient and family observations with other team members. Follows established guidelines in carrying out the patient treatment plan under the supervision of the professional staff which may include one-to-one activity with patients, group activity with patients and participates in group therapy. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology or sociology or related field.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI).
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to file alphabetically and numerically, legible handwriting, spelling/grammar aptitude.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively care for debilitated and/or demented patients who require total care.
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
  • Organizing and prioritizing skills.
  • Ability to travel throughout and between facilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in psychiatry.

Responsibilities

  • Provides care and support services for assigned patients.
  • Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, and educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas.
  • Completes documentation of patient related tasks.
  • Maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
